How we check.facts on every card
Nothing gets listed until the fee is verified, the terms are summarized, and the data is dated. This page is the whole method — and every claim on it is one you can test against any card on the site.
Every fee stated.
Including “free.” What it costs to enter sits on the card, at the same rank as the deadline — never in paragraph four.
Terms summarized, clause cited.
The rights line on every card is drawn from the organizer’s own terms — quoted where there is a clause to quote, and reporting the silence, dated, where there is not. When a clause deserves your attention, the heads-up names it.
Never pay-to-submit.
The Song Post takes no submissions and charges writers nothing. Every link leaves the site and says where it goes.
We take no cut.
No affiliate fees, no paid placement, no “featured” listings. Organizers cannot buy a listing — or remove a heads-up.

The fee
Verified at the source, stated on the card including “free.” If the fee changes, the card changes — with the date it did.
The rights line
One plain-English sentence about what happens to your song, drawn from the organizer’s own terms — and where the terms say nothing about it, the line says that instead of inventing a reassurance. Ambiguous clauses become a heads-up with the clause named.
The dates
Every open listing carries the date its data was verified and the date its next re-check is due — both printed on its record, next to the source they came from.
The organizer
A reachable, identifiable entity with at least one prior edition, credit, or public record — or the listing doesn’t run.
The source
Where the data came from — the rules page, the brief, the confirming email — named in the record, so you can check our checking.
A verified date means the record held.
Fee captured, terms quoted, organizer named with a findable track record, rights in plain English, no hidden asks. The date tells you when the sources were last read — and the record names the date the next read is due.
A heads-up means real — but read this first.
Genuine work some writers will still want, with one term that deserves your eyes — stated on the card in a sentence, clause cited. What fails outright is never published at all.
