Your rights
Nothing about rights in work created during the residency appears in the captured terms — the application page, captured September 29, 2026.

Jentel’s second window of the year, for residencies between May 15 and December 7. It opens October 1 and closes January 15 at noon Mountain time — so on the day this card was written nothing could yet be submitted, and it says so first. The page prints these as a standing calendar without years; the window that opens on October 1, 2026 is the one that closes on January 15, 2027, for the 2027 season. Composers are named in the eligibility line: “visual artists in any medium; writers in fiction, creative nonfiction, or poetry; and composers across musical genres.”

The money runs almost entirely towards the resident. The only charge is the $30 application fee, which the page states is non-refundable and cannot be waived: “Aside from the application fee, there are no additional charges to attend the residency.” Each resident receives a $300 stipend in weekly instalments towards living and food costs. A $100 reservation deposit is due a month after the award and is lost only if you cancel less than two months before your start.

The limits are eligibility rather than cost: 25 or older, a US citizen or resident during the residency year, and not enrolled full-time in a degree programme. The residency sits twenty miles southeast of Sheridan in the foothills of the Bighorn Mountains; each resident gets a private room, a shared living area and kitchen, and a separate studio, and brings their own materials. A rotating panel of visual art, literary and music professionals reviews applications. Nothing on the captured page addresses rights in the work made there.
