Yaddo residency — the winter cycle.

Closes
December 20
months away
Entry
$35 to apply; room, board and a studio at no cost
artists cover their own travel; access grants are available by invitation
Your week
Two weeks to two months in Saratoga Springs
with room, board and a studio
Your rights
Nothing about rights in work created during the residency appears in the captured terms — the application page, captured August 11, 2026.

Musical composition sits in the middle of Yaddo’s disciplines list, and the winter cycle is the one still ahead: applications close December 20, 2026, for residencies beginning May 2027 through March 2028. The summer cycle’s July 1 deadline has already passed.

The cost is a $35 nonrefundable application fee and nothing else. Room, board and a studio are provided at no charge; artists cover their own travel, with modest access grants available by invitation. Stays run from two weeks to two months.

The track record is the reason this one is on the desk despite being a general-arts residency rather than a songwriting camp: a century of operation, and the organizer’s own tally of 90 Pulitzer Prizes, 34 MacArthur Fellowships, 73 National Book Awards and a Nobel Prize among the later honours of artists who have worked there. What the captured page does not do is say anything about rights in what you make while you are there.
