Jentel Artist Residency — Winter/Spring 2027.

Closes
September 15
archived
Entry
$30 to apply; nothing further to attend
the application fee is stated non-refundable and cannot be waived; a $100 reservation deposit falls due a month after acceptance
Your week
A month in Wyoming with a private room and separate studio
plus a $300 stipend
Your rights
Nothing about rights in work created during the residency appears in the captured terms — the application page, captured August 11, 2026.

Composers are named in the eligibility line — “visual artists in any medium; writers in fiction, creative nonfiction, or poetry; and composers across musical genres” — which is rarer on the residency circuit than it sounds. The Winter/Spring sessions run January 15 to May 7, 2027, and applications close September 15, 2026 at noon Mountain time.

The arithmetic here runs the other way from most of this desk. The only money that leaves your account is the $30 application fee, stated non-refundable and explicitly non-waivable. Everything after that runs towards you: “Aside from the application fee, there are no additional charges to attend”, plus a $300 stipend paid in weekly instalments. A $100 reservation deposit falls due a month after acceptance, which the page treats as a holding sum rather than a charge.

The catch is eligibility rather than cost. You must be 25 or older, a US citizen or resident, and not enrolled full-time in a degree programme. Residents get a private room, a separate studio and a shared kitchen, and bring their own materials. Nothing on the captured page addresses rights in the work made there.

Who can apply
“Visual artists in any medium; writers in fiction, creative nonfiction, or poetry; and composers across musical genres.” Applicants must be 25 or over, a US citizen or US resident, and not enrolled full-time in a degree programme; post-doctoral fellows are eligible. Wyoming residents may use a streamlined application.
What it costs
“$30. The fee is non-refundable and cannot be waived.” Then: “Aside from the application fee, there are no additional charges to attend.” A “$100 reservation deposit is due one month after notification”, and residents receive a “$300 stipend distributed in weekly installments”. Captured August 11, 2026.
