Kimmel Harding Nelson Center — 2027 Session One.

Closes
September 1
closed
Entry
$35 to apply; no residency fee
the application fee is stated non-waivable; travel is the awardee’s own, except cab fare from nearby airports
Your week
Two to eight weeks in Nebraska with housing
a private studio and a $175 weekly food stipend
Your rights
Nothing about rights in work created during the residency appears in the captured terms — the residency and how-to-apply pages, captured August 11, 2026.

Three weeks’ notice, and composers are first in the eligibility line: applications close September 1, 2026 for 2027 Session One, which runs January 4 to June 25, 2027. Residencies are two to eight weeks long inside that window.

One number goes out and two come back. The $35 application fee is stated non-waivable. In return, each resident receives housing, a private studio and a $175 weekly food stipend — so an eight-week residency carries $1,400 of stipend against a $35 application. Travel is the awardee’s own responsibility, apart from cab fare from the nearby airports, which the Center covers.

The organizer publishes its own track record in a sentence: “Since 2001, KHN has awarded more than 1400 residencies to working visual artists, writers, composers, and interdisciplinary artists”, at up to seventy-eight juried residencies a year. Neither captured page says anything about rights in the work made there.
